Who We Are
Celebrating 75 years in business, Gehret Associates is your one-stop shopping center for all your financial and insurance needs. Services include all lines of insurance, including auto, home, business, health and annuities, as well as bookkeeping, payroll services, and income tax preparation for individuals and small businesses. They also specialize in church payroll services and pastors’ income tax returns.
Bob Gehret (1921-2011), our founder, after being encouraged by Charles “Tremendous” Jones, used his natural ability as a speaker and people person to start Gehret Associates, Inc. in 1948. His home business quickly grew through the years and in 1964 moved to 210 North State Street in Ephrata, PA.
Current owner, Janna (Fravel) Alspaugh began working for Gehret Associates in 1988 on the income tax side of the business. After being intrigued with investments, life, health, and disability insurance she soon acquired her insurance license to sell these products. And within a few years, Janna acquired an additional insurance license to sell all other types of insurance. In 1994, she purchased the business from Bob Gehret.
Janna is a graduate of Lancaster Bible College and Harrisburg Area Community College. She has been preparing taxes for more than 30 years. Janna has earned the Registered Tax Return Preparer Designation from the IRS. She is passionate about helping people find solutions to their financial dilemmas. Recently Janna completed Financial Coach Master Training through Ramsey Solutions. Janna’s goal is to assist individuals through financial dilemmas related to their personal or business matters.
The continuous increase in competent staff and an ever-expanding client base created a need for more office space and more parking. In December 2010, the business moved to 322 North State Street in Ephrata, PA.
